Nikki Budzinski

Congressional Candidate for IL-13

Have you ever voted in a Primary and NOT requested a Democratic ballot?

No, I have not.

How have you demonstrated your commitment to democratic principles in the past?

I am proud to be from Central Illinois and I’m proud to have been involved in a multitude of campaigns over the course of my life. I went to school at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and my first real job in politics after college was living in Springfield and working for Dan Hynes. I also worked for UFCW Local 881 and the IAFF and was involved in a multitude of campaigns and down ballot efforts over the course of the last 20 years. One of the things I’m the most proud of in my Illinois experience was being an early hire for Governor Pritzker and working for him through the primary and general elections. With Governor Pritzker, I was proud to lead the effort on a $15 minimum wage and on expanding broadband internet access.

Do you agree workers have the right to strike for basic workplace improvements?

Yes

Should all businesses; for-profit, non-for-profit, and government entities, be required to pay a living minimum wage of at least $15 per hour?

Yes

What is your stance on abortion?

I support a woman’s right to choose their own health care and think government has no place in that decision making process. I’m appalled by what’s going on in Texas right now and, if elected, I will be a bulwark for women’s reproductive health in the Congress.

Do you feel affirmative action is an effective way to ensure diversity and equity in the workplace?

Yes

Is it reasonable to pay a worker with a disability less?

No

Is Medicare For All the solution to rising health care costs?

I believe that health care is a right and not a privilege. I support policy that would move us to giving more Americans access to quality, affordable health care.
