CHAMPAIGN COUNTY DEMOCRATS CONDEMN TRUMP’S CALL FOR NEO-NAZI GROUP TO “STAND BACK AND STAND BY.”

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY IL — The Champaign County Democrats are appalled by Donald Trump’s call for the Neo-Nazi White Supremacy group the Proud Boys to “Stand Back and Stand By” at the first Presidential Debate on Tuesday, September 29th. We condemn these statements in the most vigorous terms and state clearly that the values of Champaign County Democrats denounce Donald Trump’s embrace of the Proud Boys’ support. We believe this election is about values and we call on the Champaign County Republicans to join us in condemning President Trump’s statement regarding the Neo-Nazi group the Proud Boys and denouncing Trump’s embrace of their support. This is a serious issue as to what values the candidates for Office in Champaign County and beyond represent and support. If the Republicans refuse to condemn and denounce these statements then the people of Champaign County will clearly understand the Republican Candidates for office are silent and complicit at this critical time of fighting racism in America. Embracing Nazi hate groups like the Proud Boys should have no place of comfort in any political party in the United States. It’s time for all of us, regardless of party affiliations to stand united against anyone who embraces organizations like the Proud Boys
